about

After emerging from a 20-year hibernation, Sparkling Apple have hit the ground running with a brand new CD, "Hard Core Apple", a compilation of all their greatest vinyl hits plus two freshly-recorded tracks: "Midlife Crisis/Crazy For Your Love". They've been thrown out of more bars than most bands ever get to play in, and after 40 years of bringing rock and roll music to the people, are still loud and proud. "We are honored to tell everyone that this album contains NO ballads, NO synthesizers, NO hip-hop, NO filler, and NO dreary acoustic guitars. Just meat and potatoes rock and roll," claims drummer Captain Maniac.

After the arduous task of sifting through ancient and deteriorating master tapes, a selection of "the best of Sparkling Apple" was chosen for the new release. From their earliest 1975 single, "I'm Only Here For the Beer", to the regional hit, "It's Criminal", as well as the Vancouver Seeds-only "Midnight Flight", the album is a trip back in time to the days before bands voluntarily chose to wear hearing protectors -- a present from the past. In addition, all tracks from both EPs are included, as well as selected tracks from the proposed but never completed live album, "Live At Scottsdale 1979".

An online contest on the band's blog came up with a suitable album title; after weeks in the studio recording two new songs written by bassist Kevin Stuart Swain, the CD was released in all its glory this summer. If you're a member of the Apple Corps (friends and followers of Sparkling Apple), you *need* this album, no questions asked. If you're a fan of genuine classic rock and mindless boogie with guitars set on Stun, this album is tailor-made for you.

about

Sparkling Apple Vancouver, British Columbia

Sparkling Apple is a Vancouver, BC-based rock trio, popular in the 70s for its own brand of “drunk rock” (you had to be drunk to play it and drunk to appreciate it) — a concoction of heavy duty classic rock and certifiably unhinged mayhem.
